    VSAR Searches - 1997

    We have had four searches so far this year. We provided over 12,700 person hours of searching.

    On our first search this year we participated in a Multi-Team Search at Lakeside, Halifax County on January 19th. The search was for a missing hiker. We had 22 members respond and we searched our given area during the day in minus 20 degree conditions. We assisted with 240 person hours. He was found deceased.

    Our second search was for a missing senior. He became disorintated while out walking. He was found by the RCMP before we were underway. We had 26 searchers respond for a total of 26 person hours provided.

    Our third search was for a missing person at Cape Split. He became lost while rockhounding. He walked out on his own while we were searching. We had 29 searchers respond with a total of 145 person hours spent.

    Our fourth search was a response to a call for assistance to Annapolis County GSAR. We searched over a six day period with 92 searchers and 80 volunteers with us, for a total of 12,384 person hours spent. The search was for a missing person with Alzheimers and Parkinsons Decease. He has not been found. There was a total of ten different teams responding over the week.
